Gastroesophageal varices (GEV) are present in approximately 50% of patients with cirrhosis. GEV hemorrhage is the most common lethal complication of cirrhosis, occurring in ~20% if untreated. The GI Bleeding DVD video focuses on the endoscopic management of esophageal varices, and includes sections on endoscopic screening, prophylaxis and the acute management of patients with variceal hemorrhage.
