Adverse Events in Luminal Endoscopy: Prevention & Management
Endoscopy has significantly evolved over the last two decades, with new techniques and therapeutic interventions. This has been extremely beneficial for our patients, allowing minimally invasive treatment of several conditions, which were only previously reserved for surgical intervention. Simultaneously, the risk and incidence of endoscopy complications has also increased. Awareness of potential complication during endoscopy, prompt identification of peri and post procedure complications and their effective management represent a crucial prerequisite to minimize the risk of catastrophic chain of adverse events. Patient safety and awareness of potential complications must remain a pivotal requirement, when performing endoscopy. Join Alberto Murino, MD, who will provide an overview of potential complications which may occur during luminal diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and will provide ways to further improve the care of our patients.
