ASGE Endoscopic Hepatology 101

ASGE Endoscopic Hepatology 101
Gastroenterologists are the leaders in the care team of patients with various forms of chronic liver disease.  This ASGE course on Endo-Hepatology will expand the endoscopists’ knowledge and skill to diagnose and treat a variety of patients with chronic liver disease, inclusive of pre-cirrhotic and cirrhotic populations.  Lectures and simulation-based skills training will include endoscopic variceal banding ligation for primary and secondary prophylaxis as well as acute treatment of esophageal variceal bleeding; endoscopic sclerosant injection therapies, esophageal stenting, and balloon tamponade for rescue therapy of refractory esophageal variceal bleeding; glue injection therapy for gastric variceal bleeding; use of argon plasma coagulation and radiofrequency ablation for gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE). The course will also review endovascular offerings from interventional radiology such as transjugular intrahepatic portoysystemic shunt (TIPS) and balloon-assisted retrograde transvenous obliteration (BRTO). This is an intensive learning experience with the goal to provide an overview of endo-hepatology, its practicalities and an introductory to the endoscopic skills to best benefit select patient populations.

A virtual option is available, inclusive of a live faculty directed endoscopy demonstration and interaction.
